The Importance of Remembrance

Why did God give us the Bible? Was it to waste our time? Did He do this because He had nothing better to do? The answer to both questions is a resounding NO! The Lord passed on to us the Scriptures so that we know and REMEMBER who He is and what He has done and continues to do today.

Check this out:
- Remember appears 148 times in the KJV Bible
- Remember appears 167 times in the NIV Bible

Based on these numbers, God must mark remembering pretty high on His list!

Remembrance is an issue for us because we are clouded by the things which cause our focus to turn from the living God to ourselves. We often develop a “selective” memory when trials and trouble come to our doorstep.

God has blessed many of us with good memory and we are expected to use it responsibly! He expects us to know and remember the GOOD in all that happens. What better way to train that brain of ours than getting deep into His Word, the Bible.

Lastly, in order for any memories to have a lasting effect, they must enter your heart! King David, in the Psalms, says that he has hid God’s word in his heart to NOT sin against Him.

Work on this now as tribulations wait for no man!
